BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has urged youth to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) as an opportunity for innovation and employment, instead of living in fear of the technology, particularly its impact on jobs.

The former IT and Industries Minister, who was inaugurating the India headquarters of data, AI and innovation firm RandomTrees here, said this underscoring the significance of continuous learning, skill development and harnessing emerging technologies.

Every technological revolution initially creates apprehensions but eventually opens new avenues for growth, he said, recalling the resistance to introduction of computers in the banking sector. Adapting to change was essential for progress and portraying AI as a ‘monster’ would only create unnecessary fear among people, Mr. Rao said.

Highlighting the importance of strengthening Telangana’s technology ecosystem, attracting investments and preparing youth for future employment opportunities, he said the BRS government had taken several initiatives to position Hyderabad as a leading global IT destination and attract global capability centres of multinational companies.

He expressed confidence that the city could emerge as a major hub for AI research, data science and technological innovation, a release from his office on Saturday said.

With private sector playing a major role in employment generation, the governments should focus on creating a business-friendly environment rather than attempting to provide jobs directly to everyone. Reliable power and water supply, quality infrastructure, efficient transport and ease of doing business were essential to attract investments, Mr. Rao said.
