Reacting to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a meeting, Wadettiwar said such important matters should be discussed by both the government and the Opposition, regardless of the latter’s strength. On slogans allegedly raised in support of Tipu Sultan during an anti-CEC protest in Malegaon, Wadettiwar said Tipu Sultan was a “son of India” whose history had been wrongly portrayed. He said he was unaware of what had been said at the protest, adding that using someone’s photograph or agitating in their support should not automatically lead to them being labelled a traitor, terrorist or Naxal.
