As per Karishma’s social media account, she completed her MBBS and MS before pursuing advanced fellowship training at Bengaluru’s Narayana Nethralaya. Her specialist training included vitreoretinal surgery, uveitis and retinopathy of prematurity, a potentially serious eye condition affecting some babies born prematurely.Her professional work includes the management of retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy and other retinal disorders. She is also associated with Namah Super Specialty Eye Care in Pune, where she works in vitreoretinal care.
