Fabian Hurzeler could not celebrate his 100th game as Brighton manager with a victory as his side played out an uneventful goalless draw with Czech side Jablonec in the Uefa Conference League.
Brighton came into the match on a six-game winning run and had scored in their past 10 outings, but produced a laboured performance after Hurzeler made eight changes to the side that beat Crystal Palace 5-0 on Sunday.
The Seagulls struggled to create chances and lacked a clinical edge in the final third, despite dominating both halves.
Georginio Rutter scored twice in the 4-0 win against Lithuanian side Kauno Zalgiris last week, but was guilty of missing two good chances just before half-time.
Malick Yalcouye thought he had put Brighton in front five minutes into the second half, but he mistimed his run and was caught offside.
Brighton lost a bit of composure after Hurzeler made four substitutions with 25 minutes remaining, which invited the hosts to push for a winner.
Antonin Rusek should have put the hosts in front after pouncing on a misjudged header from Costinha, before Bart Verbruggen produced a fine save to deny a curling strike from Jiri Slama.
Verbruggen had to beat away a stinging drive from Vakhtang Tchanturishvili at the end of a Jablonec counter-attack, preserving a fifth consecutive clean sheet of the season for his side.
Brighton’s next European assignment is against Getafe in Madrid on Thursday, 5 November (20:00 GMT).
