Oracle Integrates Data and Applications With OpenAI Frontier AI

Oracle and OpenAI have partnered to develop a user experience that will bring together Oracle applications, enterprise data and cloud services, and OpenAI frontier models, Oracle said in a Tuesday (Oct. 27) press release.

This Oracle AI Workspace will make Oracle’s capabilities agent-ready and accessible to ChatGPT users, according to the release.

In its own press release about Oracle AI Workspace, OpenAI said this combination will allow users to describe what they want to do, find the right information and complete approved business workflows.

“For example, a new finance team member could use ChatGPT to investigate costs, understand purchasing decisions and identify what remains before month-end close,” OpenAI said in its announcement. “The intended experience would bring information from finance, procurement and planning applications together, helping more employees use Oracle software within their organization’s permissions and approvals.”

The new collaboration of Oracle and OpenAI also includes Oracle AI Security Mesh, a managed service that uses OpenAI cyber models to help customers find and fix vulnerabilities in their applications across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), other clouds and on-premises environments; Oracle App Composer, which helps employees build enterprise applications with the help of OCI and OpenAI’s Codex; and Oracle AI SMB Bundle, which brings together products from Oracle and OpenAI to help small businesses build products, run their operations and scale, according to Oracle’s press release.

“With this new product suite, we are uniting [OpenAI’s] transformative AI capabilities with Oracle applications, data and cloud infrastructure — technology that businesses around the world rely on to run their most critical operations,” Oracle CEO Clay Magouyrk said in the release.

OpenAI President and Co-Founder Greg Brockman said in the release that OpenAI is making it easier to use its AI through other tools used by businesses and that the partnership with Oracle brings that opportunity to more companies.

It was reported Oct. 9 that OpenAI’s enterprise business is driving the company’s gains in annualized revenue, which is expected to reach at least $70 billion by the end of the year, up from $50 billion at the end of September.

It was reported in June that Oracle said in an annual report that during the year ended May 31, the company reduced its workforce by 21,000, or about 13%, and that the “adoption and deployment of AI technologies across our operations have resulted, and may continue to result, in reductions to our workforce.”
