India all-rounder Prema Rawat entered her name in the history books on Monday (November 2) by breaking the world record for scoring the fastest half-century in a women’s T20 cricket match.

The 24-year-old bowling all-rounder from Uttarakhand, who has represented India in seven T20Is so far, played an unbeaten knock of 50 runs off just 14 balls for her domestic side Uttarakhand against Hyderabad in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy Elite match at the MCA Cricket Stadium in Gahunje, Pune.

Prema, who was part of the Indian team that won the Women’s Asia Cup title in September, smashed three fours and six sixes to help her side post a big total of 187 for 2 in 20 overs.

The previous record for scoring the fastest half-century in a women’s T20 cricket match was held by Marie Kelly.

The English cricketer had scored a half-century off 15 balls for Warwickshire against Gloucestershire in 2022. Her feat was matched by Laura Harris while playing for Otago against Canterbury in 2025. In May 2026, Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana also scored a half-century in just 15 balls against Zimbabwe in Karachi.
