Preview: Bruins look to extend streak against Panthers

The Boston Bruins will welcome the Florida Panthers to the TD Garden for some matinee action in the two club’s first meeting of the season. The Bruins will then see the Panthers Dec. 8, Dec. 15 and April 9, 2027.

But any fans wanting to see Brad Marchand are out of luck as he is still sidelined with a knee injury. He isn’t expected to return to the lineup until December.

The Panthers are coming to Boston off a 4-3 loss to the Washington Capitals yesterday. Brady Tkachuk had two goals in the game. Sandis Vilmanis, who has three goals and four assists this season, left yesterday’s game in the first period. The Bruins are heading into the game on a three-game win streak, last playing on Thursday with a 6-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on the road.

ICYMI: The Bruins placed James Hagens on injured reserved yesterday and recalled Mikey Eyssimont from Providence. Like Dan reported yesterday, Eyssimont is having himself quite the start to the AHL season with already 13 goals — and three hat tricks.

Projected lines for today’s game per NHL.com has Eyssimont on the wing with Fraser Minten and Morgan Geekie.

Speaking of Geekie, he’s on a three-game goal streak after going 9 games without a goal.

When he was talking about his streak after Thursday’s 6-2 win, Geekie highlighted how the team is seeing contributions from every line. In their last three wins, 12 of the 13 regulation goals were scored in their games by different players. Pavel Zacha was the only player in that time span to have a 2-goal night, which happened on Thursday.

For the Panthers, Matthew Tkachuk has nine points in his last five games with nine assists. Sam Reinhart has four goals in that space. For the Bruins, Pastrnak has one goal and four assists in his last five and Zacha has three goals.

Head-to-head, the Panthers have the edge in both the power play (23.7%) and penalty kill (85.3%). But the Bruins have scored more and given up less with high goals for (3.71 – 6th in the NHL) and goals against averages (2.35 – 4th in the NHL).
