Tripura beat former Ranji Trophy champion Saurashtra by 133 runs on Thursday in one of the most stunning results in the tournament history.
Having set Saurashtra a target of 342 to chase, off-spinner Sandip Sarkar, who claimed 4/48 in the first innings, was again the wrecker-in-chief, claiming 4/81 to prise out the top order.
Arpit Vasavada (89 off 189 balls) was the only Saurashtra batter to manage a fifty-plus score, before being the last man run out by Manisankar Murasingh to seal Tripura’s victory.
Tripura’s Sridam Paul was named player of the match for his twin fifties (86 & 50).
