- Polls have closed in South Florida, with Miami-Dade voters poised to choose which candidates will run for congressional seats in three of the area’s districts.
- Voters in the county will choose which candidates will run in the Nov. election to compete for seats in District 24, District 25 and District 27.
Jared Moskowitz won District 25’s Democratic Primary, as the Associated Press called the race with unofficial results showing he received 63.5% of the vote.
Scott Singer won the district’s Republican primary, with the Florida Division of Elections reporting he gleaned 31.3% of the vote.
Maria Elvira Salazar won District 27’s Republican Primary, according to the AP, with 81.3% of the vote, with Eliott Rodriguez ahead among the district’s Democrats. Democrat Oliver G. Gilbert was ahead of Shevrin Jones in District 24.
County voters were set to determine which candidates will run in the November election to compete for seats in District 24, which includes parts of Miami Gardens, North Miami and Opa-Locka, District 25, which includes part of the coast running from Miami-Dade County to Palm Beach County and District 27, which includes parts of Coral Gables, South Miami, Pinecrest and Kendall.
District 24’s seat was previously held by Frederica Wilson, a Democrat, who did not seek reelection and endorsed Democrat Oliver G. Gilbert, former mayor of Miami Gardens.
District 25 was redrawn during Florida’s mid-decade redistricting — though Democrat Debbie Wasserman Shultz previously represented the district, she sought election in District 20.
District 27’s seat was previously held by Maria Elvira Salazar, a Republican, who was originally elected in Nov. of 2020.
Winners of today’s Republican and Democratic primary races will proceed to the general election, to be held on Nov. 3, 2026.
