MEXICO CITY — The United States and Mexico have deployed hundreds of troops to a border area where U.S. officials said members of the U.S. Coast Guard came under fire, which they returned.
Coast Guard members “encountered gunfire” from the Mexican border during interdiction operations with federal authorities near Garceno, Texas, on Sept. 26, according to a statement from a Coast Guard spokesperson.
