Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela’s legal team is pursuing damages estimated at Rs 7,000 crore (approximately $840 million) from an unnamed Los Angeles-based AI company, alleging unauthorized commercial use of her identity.
According to her team, the AI firm exploited the actress’s identity — including her name, images and videos — without her permission or authorization.
In a strongly worded public statement shared on Instagram, her team said, “Build your AI company. Build your brand. But keep Urvashi’s name out of your business unless you have permission.”
The action comes amid growing legal battles in India over celebrity personality rights and AI-generated content. Salman Khan, Preity Zinta and Mohanlal have also raised concerns over the unauthorized use of their likenesses through AI, deepfakes and voice dubbing.
The Delhi and Bombay High Courts have previously issued protective orders concerning the unauthorized use of celebrities’ names, images and digital likenesses.
