Wanindu Hasaranga will return home from Sri Lanka’s ongoing tour of England after experiencing lower-back pain during a practice session ahead of the first ODI.
The allrounder, who missed the series opener, has been ruled out of the remainder of the three-match series and will begin his rehabilitation in Sri Lanka.
Hasaranga first experienced discomfort during practice ahead of the opening ODI. The team management subsequently decided to rest him for the game before ruling him out of the remainder of the series.
The latest setback adds to Hasaranga’s history of injury-related absences. He missed the 2023 ODI World Cup after suffering a hamstring injury, while at the 2026 T20 World Cup, he injured his hamstring in Sri Lanka’s opening game against Ireland and missed the remainder of the tournament.
