Chocolate Halloween eyeball candies sold at TJ Maxx, Marshalls and other home goods stores have been recalled because they contain undeclared milk.
New Jersey candy company Crystal Temptations recalled its Chocolatey Eyeballs on Aug. 31 because they contain undeclared milk, which could cause serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if people with milk sensitivities eat them.
There have been no reported illnesses connected to the candy, the company said in a report on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website.
“Investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes,” Crystal Temptations wrote on its website.
USA TODAY contacted Crystal Temptations and the FDA on Tuesday, Sept. 1 to find out how many cases were recalled.

What should consumers do if they bought the recalled Halloween candy?
Crystal Temptations said customers who have the products should destroy them. To get a refund, customers must contact the company with proof of purchase for a refund at 1-201-246-7990 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
