HFCL has launched OptiQ AI, an integrated optical connectivity portfolio aimed at hyperscalers, cloud providers and data centre operators in the UK.
The launch is a response to a fibre density constraint: the capacity to move data between GPUs, servers, storage and switches at the scale AI workloads now demand.
The timing follows the designation of five AI Growth Zones across the Southeast, Northeast, North Wales, South Wales and Scotland, set up to fast-track planning permission and grid connections for new data centre builds.
HFCL’s argument is that as this expansion moves from planning into construction, optical connectivity needs to be treated as a delivery priority in its own right – not as an afterthought to power and grid access.
