President Donald Trump says he will spend as much as $500 million to help Republican candidates for the House and Senate win their races on Nov. 3.
“We’re going to spend a lot of money because we don’t want to lose our country,” Trump said in the Oval Office on Friday, Sept. 4, just 60 days before voters will decide which party should control Congress.
He will spend the money through MAGA Inc., which can spend unlimited amounts in elections. The account had $403 million in the bank at the end of July, according to the latest disclosures filed with the Federal Election Commission.
That’s more cash in the president’s account than the Republican National Committee ($130.4 million) and Republican campaign arms for the House ($92.4 million) and Senate ($56.2 million) combined. The Democratic Party does not have a comparable super PAC.
But MAGA Inc. has barely touched the cash so far. It spent about $1.7 million to help Republican Rep. Matt Van Epps in a 2025 special election in Tennessee and about $18,000 to support Rep. Clay Fuller in a special election for Marjorie Taylor Greene’s former seat in Georgia.
“I’m going to be making contributions to various campaigns and people I think are good, Republicans that I think are very good, people that I think can win or are close to winning,” Trump said.
Trump said he has about $1 billion to spend but will spend between $400 million and $500 million. It’s not clear whether he is expecting to spend more or if he misspoke on the total value of MAGA Inc.
“I’m going to help a lot of the congressmen and senators who need help,” Trump said. “I could use it for ’28 if I want. I expect to have money left over, and we can use that for ’28.”
